In this coming of age novel in verse, Ava, does a dance with life, struggling to balance her loves with life's have to's. If it doesn't involve Rumi (poetry), singing or surfin' thru some waves, it is not a part of Ava's life plan. It's summer, a perfect time for surfing with your 'bestie', until life's have to's get in the way. As a Persian American, it is Ava's lot in life to fulfill family wishes, and then tragedy strikes and her world is upside down, almost resembling a tsunami. Can she ride the wave long enough to find the shore?
