Rajani LaRocca knew she wanted to write this story in verse, especially since the experiences could mirror the life she lived feeling as though she was split in two. Unraveling the story of Reha, growing up in an immigrant family, being raised proper and prim by Amma and dad, the author skillfully reveals Reha‘s wishes. Born in America, to Indian parents, Reha shares what it feels like to be a girl that wants to have fun yet understand the connection between the moon and stars ; especially when those celestial bodies represent the mom and daughter relationship.
